CFP: History of Emotion Conference at George Mason University
A Conference on the History of Emotion will take place at George Mason University, in Fairfax, VA, on June 1-2 2018. The conference organizers are Susan Matt, Weber State University, and Peter Stearns, George Mason; the Conference is co-sponsored with the Society on the History of Emotion (SHE).
The Conference seeks to address major issues in the field: periodization, relevant theory and interdisciplinarity, comparative approaches, teaching and public outreach. There will also be discussion of the formation of a virtual organization for scholars working on the history of emotion in North America, in coordination with the SHE.
The conference invites paper proposals that fall within the parameters suggested above. Relevant Prospectuses must be received no later than Sept. 30, 2017, addressed to pstearns@gmu.edu (feel free to address any questions to this same address). Decisions will be made by the end of October. It must be emphasized that this conference is self-funded, so no subsidies or stipends are available.
